Man, among other things, is a story telling animal.  This unique ability to capture and communicate one's thoughts through stories has been a key in the sustenance and evolution of mankind across the world.  More than just entertainment, stories have played an important role in communicating shared beliefs on ideas of right and wrong, important human values, man's relation to nature and other fellow beings, of God and the universe and much more.  Without this ability to tell a story, man would have remained an animal and not the spiritual human being he is meant to be.

This camp is intended to develop a deep appreciation for one of the most wonderful gifts that God has given us in this world.  Over three days, being together at the ashram, we will try and expand our understanding of STORIES and discover all that they have to tell us.

What will we do in the camp?
.......................................................

ABSORB, REFLECT, CREATE, RELAX, LEARN and HAVE FUN!

We will together explore the realm of stories and see what we can learn from them...about them and about ourselves.

Structured sessions through the day will enable participants to acquire new ideas through input sessions, reflect and deepen the knowledge through workshops, express their thoughts and hone their skills through creative activities, relax through satsangs the ashram way by chanting and singing bhajans, get together every night for loads of fun and of course...listen to lots of stories.

Judiciously interspersed with early morning yoga and meditation (WARNING: have to wake up early in the morning...NO EXCUSES!!!), selfless seva, physical recreation and more makes this an unique growing environment.  We will learn how to live as a group and we will love and share and work together for each other... WE WILL LEARN AND GROW AND BLOSSOM TOGETHER!!!

Do the children have to stay in the ashram?
.......................................................
It is not necessary that children stay in the ashram for the camp.  However, staying at the ashram for the entire duration of the camp will be a special experience for them.  Children will be allowed to attend the camp without staying over provided parents can assure they will be brought at a mutually agreed time everyday and will attend most/all the sessions.

What is the nature of accommodation?
.......................................................
Dormitory type accommodation with basic facilities and common bath+toilet separate for boys and girls. Both dormitories will have senior volunteers to oversee and maintain order.

What do the children have to bring?
.......................................................

1.  THINGS TO BRING [Please ensure all things are brought for a great camp experience.]
  • Bedding: bedsheet, small pillow and blanket.
  • Pull-overs and other warm clothing (it can get quite chilly at night and early morning)
  • Special medication (if any) and/or medicines for common illness.
  • FOUR sets of comfortable and respectable clothes in keeping with the ashram atmosphere (traditional clothing even better).
  • Necessary toiletries (towel, soap, tooth-paste and brush, comb).
  • Appropriate easy to remove footwear.
  • A bag to carry books and other things to class.
  • Water-bottle.
  • Yoga mat if available.
  • ONE notebook.
  • Writing and drawing instruments (pencils, pen, eraser, pencil sharpener, compass)
  • CRAFT ACCESSORIES – Scissor, ruler, glue, etc.
  • ART ACCESSORIES – paints, brushes, colour pencils, pens and markers, crayons, etc.
MOST IMPORTANT: What's the point of this camp if there are no stories.  So bring along a few wonderful stories to share.

2.  THINGS NOT TO BRING

(a) Since the purpose of the camp is to cut-off from regular activities and explore new things, it is best that mobile phones, MP3 Players, iPADs, iPODs, fidget spinners, playing cards and other games/gaming/electronic equipment are avoided.  There will be better things to do.

(b) Children will be in safe environments.  Hence there will be no need for constant communication through mobile phones.  Parents can call the ashram phone if at all necessary.

(c)  Children will be served healthy food, snack and beverages 5 times a day.  Hence, parents are requested not to pack food-items in their bags.

(d)  Food items carried by children causes the dormitories to get very dirty.  In case parents feel the need to pack some snacks, they are requested to hand them over to the ashram so that they can be stored carefully and shared with all.

(e)  Please avoid any valuable items like jewellery, etc.  Children will be responsible for the safety of their belongings.  Please avoid anything that is not absolutely necessary.

What else do I need to know?
